AAP confirms that there is a growth trend in the number of visitors since the beginning of 2023 in the south of the country

Aeropuertos Andinos del Perú (AAP) reported that the National Holidays week generated a positive impact on the tourism sector in the south of the country and domestic tourism, in particular, reflected a significant recovery. According to its indicators, during 2023 July was the month with the highest influx of visitors in the five airports that operate in the regions of Arequipa, Ayacucho, Tacna, Puerto Maldonado and Juliaca, registering an 11.4% growth in the number of passengers and a 7.6% increase in operations compared to June.

"It's true that July has been one of the best months of the year for the tourism sector. But it is worth saying that the growth trend has been observed since the beginning of 2023. Local movement in the south has been gradually increasing. For example, compared to July 2022, this year there has been a 6.5% growth in the number of passengers," said Carlos Antonioli, AAP Operations Manager.

Likewise, according to AAP's July 2023 operations report, the Alfredo Rodríguez Ballón terminal received 176,085 passengers. Tacna was the second destination with the most passengers with 48,156; followed by Juliaca with 44,197; Puerto Maldonado with 31,285 and Ayacucho with 28,427.
