In the first week of reopening, the Juliaca air terminal will have 15 commercial flights and is expected to receive more than four thousand people who will help reactivate the local economy and tourism.
This Tuesday, April 25, after three months of closure, the Inca Manco Cápac airport in Juliaca resumed its operations with the arrival, at around 9 a.m., of the first flight belonging to the LATAM airline, with 160 people on board from the city of Lima.
"In this time, we have worked hard to implement a security strategy that allows the resumption of commercial flights in Juliaca so that we can connect it with the rest of the country. In our first week of reopening, we expect to receive more than four thousand people who will contribute to the local economic reactivation," said Carlos Antonioli, Operations Manager of Aeropuertos Andinos del Perú (AAP).
On the first day of the resumption of airport activity, four flights were registered at the Juliaca air terminal: two round-trip flights by the LATAM airline and the other two belonging to Sky Airlines, which mobilized an approximate total of 700 passengers.
In addition, the AAP Operations Manager emphasized that, in this first week, the plan is to carry out 30 operations (takeoff and landing) and receive about 4,500 passengers. This number of flights represents 25% of the operating capacity of the Inca Manco Cápac airport, but it is expected to reach one hundred percent in May.
During the more than three months of closure, 1,050 operations that affected 152,000 passengers were lost, taking into account that January and February are high season months due to the Virgen de la Candelaria celebrations throughout the region.
