The works for corrective maintenance of the runway at Inca Manco Cápac International Airport have been completed, ensuring safety and continuity of operations. Andean Airports of Peru (AAP) reaffirmed the safety and continuity of operations at Juliaca's Inca Manco Cápac Airport after completing the corrective maintenance works on the runway. The works were carried out over 12 days without interrupting the regular service to passengers and flights.

"As part of our commitment to being an economic development hub for the region, we coordinated with airport authorities for the scheduled execution of corrective maintenance tasks to ensure the safety and optimal service level of the runway, and consequently, for the passengers and users of the airport," stated Iván Torralba, Maintenance and Investments Manager of Andean Airports of Peru.

It is important to note that AAP annually presents a Maintenance Plan that includes the performance of inspections and tasks related to the periodic and routine maintenance of the runway, taxiways, and platform. This plan is supervised by the competent authorities. Additionally, in the last two years, AAP has invested more than $2 million in corrective maintenance of the airside pavements at Juliaca Airport.

"We are a strategic ally of the Puno region and join in the search for joint solutions to actively collaborate with the recovery of tourism demand through the optimal operation of the airport and the promotion of the Puno region as a tourist destination, undertaking various actions in collaboration with all stakeholders in the sector," expressed Iván Torralba.

About Juliaca Airport: Since 2011, AAP has invested more than $11 million in Juliaca Airport, improving airport infrastructure and maintaining the commitment to provide safe and quality airport services, always with the benefit of air transport users in mind.

These investments have efficiently addressed the increased demand for visitors and operations. The passenger flow has risen from 211,000 in 2010 to 467,000 in 2019. This year, after a post-pandemic recovery in the sector and the airport closure for almost 4 months, an estimated 360,000 passengers are expected to be received, contributing to the economic development of the region and the aviation sector.

Juliaca Airport receives an average of 42,000 passengers monthly on the route from Juliaca to Lima. In October alone, the airport serviced over 43,000 passengers.
