Unko, a tangible and direct way to support the growth and development of the communities where our airports are located.
Unko, a tangible and direct way to support the growth and development of the regions where our Arequipa, Ayacucho, Juliaca, Puerto Maldonado and Tacna airports are located.

What is “Unko”?

It is an initiative that is part of our commercial strategy to facilitate access for local artisans and producers who want to market their products to visitors who come to our southern regions. It also allows us to identify those who are most outstanding and have an interest in entrepreneurship, to invite and advise them to be part of our commercial offer on a permanent basis.

Currently, 44% of our commercial offer is made up of local artisans who were identified in UNKO.

We make UNKO tangible by seeking partnerships with local organizations that work directly with artisans and artists who are then invited to exhibition spaces within our airports.

As sponsors, we provide all the support and assistance for the organization, setting and communication strategy through the use of our digital channels to promote local talent.

What does “Unko” mean?

"UNKO" is a Quechua word that means an "Andean tunic made for warriors".
The regions in which we operate in the south were strongholds of important Andean civilizations, which stood out for their art in textiles and goldsmithing, and for their natural landscapes and historical architecture.

We call our commercial platform "Unko" as a symbol that artisans and artists represent their cultural origins as warriors, they are the guardians of millennial culture and who, through their work over time, make their art and tradition last from generation to generation.
